In the News...

The world is buzzing with action right now and we could be at a crucial juncture in history so let's try to be informed and know what is going on... The pictures are unrelated but just cool pictures I found. The first is just some picture some guy took from an airplane but the rainbow looks gorgeous. The second is to get the mood set for Super Bowl Sunday! This is a picture of the place where they are making the footballs for the big game!

Economic crisis??? Try economic history! I know economics isn't a fun read but this article is something people might be studying about 20-30 years from now. The tides are turning and old rules of economics aren't quite working the way Keynes asserted. Globalization has reshaped our world and America is at the receiving end of this blow... I am sure everyone has heard for our economy's downward spiral. Subprime mortgage rates, stock market crash, unemployment, recession--if you've been looking at headlines, you've seen it all. If you haven't here's a brief glimpse at what is going on. This article also covers a historic event (biggest interest rate cut in years) so if nothing at least you can say you knew about it...

But while we cry about our economic struggles, it's good to keep it in perspective. 40,000 people die EACH MONTH in Congo!!! This is a human tragedy but most of us haven't heard of what's going on. I had an article about Kenya's political conflict that is going on there but this is just tragic. How come no one goes there to help? Why is it Iraq that is in need of so much humanitarian help and not these poor people who have nothing? There is no violence here, no terrorism, just death...

Girls are smarter than boys??? Perhaps they are... a new study suggest that both are about equally smart. But men overstate their intelligence, whereas women act dumber than they are. Not sure why girls would do that but in brief: act smarter girls!

Here's a nice note to end on... for all the cry about global warming and pollution, this article tells the story of an oil giant thinking green! With all the money they have made off of oil, not only is the UAE (Dubai is a part of the UAE) the wealthiest nation in the world (per capita that is), but it is also a world leader in helping the environment! The future green city that they have planned sounds pretty crazy!!!
