Thought of the Day

"Age is whatever you think it is. You are as old as you think you are." --- Muhammad Ali

Even the greatest of them all says age is simply a state of mind. Let's choose to remain young forever by keeping our minds' young and our lives' dynamic, energetic, and powerful...

"Confidence is contagious... So is lack of confidence." --- Vince Lombardi

Keep your head up even when the road is tough because it will keep the person next to you going. Be the strength for those around you and stay confident so that those around you do not feel down...

Joke of the Day

Late one night, a burglar broke into a house he thought was empty. He tiptoed through the living room but suddenly he froze in his tracks when he heard a loud voice say, "Jesus is watching you!"
Silence returned to the house, so the burglar crept forward again.
"Jesus is watching you," the voice boomed again.
The burglar stopped dead again. He was frightened. Frantically, he looked all around. In a dark corner, he spotted a bird cage and in the cage was a parrot.
He asked the parrot, "Was that you who said Jesus is watching me?"
"Yes," said the parrot.
The burglar breathed a sigh of relief, and asked the parrot, "What's your name?"
"Clarence," said the bird.
"That's a stupid name for a parrot," sneered the burglar. "What idiot would name a parrot Clarence?"
The parrot said, "The same idiot who named the Rottweiller Jesus."

Thought of the Day (and a Thought-Provoking Question)

"If we cannot love the person whom we see, how can we love the God whom we cannot see?" --- Mother Teresa

Here's is also something interesting to think about and discuss. A friend of mine posed this situation... When I went to Chipotle the other day, was a middle-aged Hispanic man sitting outside of it in a wheel chair selling these neon bright-colored key chains that appeared to have a pen hanging off of it that would light up. He was selling them for $2.00. The thought that came to my mind is 'do I have a social respsonsibility to buy this from him?' Even though I didn't want the thing he was selling, I felt like I should help the guy out. It would be different if he was standing there begging for those $2 from the lunch crowd, but he wasn't. Clearly, he was disabled, but still trying to make an effort to provide for himself and for his family in the best way he could. What would be the right thing be to do? To buy the useless goods he was selling, or just keep walking? Do we have a social responsibility towards that man? What would you do? Share your thoughts!

Joke of the Day

Gotta love human curiosity.....

A young man was strolling down a street. As he passed a large building with a fence around it, he heard a group of people chanting "Thirteen, thirteen, thirteen" over and over again.

Curious, he tried to see over the fence, but couldn't. Then he spotted a hole in the wood.

He put his eye to the hole. He just managed to spy some old people sitting in deckchairs chanting, before a finger came out of nowhere and poked him in the eye. As he staggered back, the old people started chanting, "Fourteen, fourteen, fourteen..."

Super Bowl for Dummies

So with the biggest sports event of the year right around the corner, I thought it would be fitting to have a preview for all the people who fear ESPN, Sports Illustrated, and anything else that has to do with sports. My goal is to share just enough about the game so that you can enjoy yourself on Sunday, have an appreciation for what's going on, and enjoy the Super Bowl for more than its ads (which haven't been as great lately)...

So for starters, the two teams that are playing: the New England Patriots vs. the New York Giants. The Patriots are trying to be the first team to complete a perfect season of 19-0 in NFL history. While the odds are against the Giants, the Giants are playing just as well. The two teams went head-to-head in the last game of the season and even though that game did not matter, the Giants nearly gave the Patriots their first loss of the season. The point is that the Giants have the ability and the game plan to beat the Patriots. The question is can they? The Patriots have gotten so close to losing a few times, but they have yet to lose... only one way to find out what will happen -- WATCH THE GAME ON SUNDAY!!!! (Here's a couple other official previews for people who are more sports savvy - NFL.com, abc.com, USAToday.com)

Now here is a bit about each team just so you know...

First, the underdogs, the New York Giants..... it is a surprise that the Giants even made it to the Super Bowl. They went 10-6 in the regular season and are the first team to ever make it to the Super Bowl with 6 losses since 1988. But they have been really hot lately. They won all three of their playoff games on the road and set an NFL record this season with 10 wins away from home. The people to know on their team:
Eli Manning, quarterback - Even though he was drafted with the 1st pick in the draft a few years back, no one ever thought that he would be playing here this season. He had a very rough year and played very inconsistently. At one point in the season he was even booed by the fans at home. But he has really turned his game around and is living up to his potential.
Plaxico Burress, wide receiver - He is fast, tall and has great hands. He can catch the ball down the field and is a play maker.
Osi Umenyiora and Michael Strahan, they play defense - These guys are fast and strong. They play on the defensive line and they will be pressuring the Patriots' offense all game long.

Then, the favorite, the New England Patriots..... there is no surprise here. The Patriots have won all 18 of their games so far this season and now they are looking to be the first team since the 1972 Dolphins to finish an entire season unbeaten (it is worthwhile to know that the Dolphins only had 14 games that season...the Patriots would have had 19 games if they win it all). The Patriots' offense has been virtually unstoppable. They set all sorts of records for the best offense this year: most points, most TDs by a quarterback, most TDs by a wide receiver... Their defense is good, but not the best. Somehow they come up big when they need to. Everyone is expecting the Patriots to win this one. Oh and they have won 3 championships in the last 6 years already...The people to know on their team:
Tom Brady, quarterback - Perhaps the best quarterback in the game right now and maybe even the best quarterback ever. He just set the record for most TDs in a single-season and he is the MVP of the NFL. He always seems to come through in the clutch and he has been virtually perfect this year. But he is coming off of his worst game and it will be interesting to see how he plays in the Super Bowl. He is also one People's Best Looking People!
Randy Moss, wide receiver - He was a druggy, a problematic teammate, and mostly everyone thought his career was a waste. Then this year he turned it around and had the best season in NFL history. He has incredible speed and can jump right over defenders. He has been shut down in the playoffs so far however and who knows how much he'll be able to do in the playoffs.

And for those of you who will still watch just for the ads, here's a preview of the ads.

Meet the Candidates....

So with the Elections coming around I thought that it would be good to get to know all of the candidates a little bit so that we can make the best choice as intelligent and responsible citizens...
Today I thought I'd take a little bit of a look at Mitt Romney:

He is a Republican candidate and former governor of Massachusetts. He is also a former CEO of Bain & Company and is the co-founder of Bain Capital, a private equity investment firm.

Romney is currently leading the Republican nominees in the election. He has won the primary in Nevada, Wyoming, and Michigan and has secured 73 delegates (you need 1,191 delegates to win the Republican nomination).

Here are some of his views on different issues:

Woman's Issues: Supports a ban of all abortions, except in cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother.
War in Iraq: Supported "troop surge" of early 2007 and opposes timed troop withdrawal.
Health Care: Supports making all health care costs tax-deductible, supports deregulating state health insurance markets to reduce costs, supports providing govt. assistance to the poor to purchase private health insurance.
Same-sex Marriage: opposes same-sex marriage and civil unions
Education: opposed and wanted to get rid of the Dept. of Education as a Senate candidate in 1994, supports performance-based pay for teachers, has not offered many details on higher education plans
Immigration: supports building a fence along the southern border of the US, opposes providing "amnesty" to undocumented immigrants already in the US by allowing them a pathway to gain legal status
Taxes: supports making Bush tax cuts permanent, supports eliminating all taxes on interest, dividends, and capital gains for middle-wage earners (those with incomes under $200,000) , signed a pledge not to raise taxes as president

Joke of the Day

Two guys are bungee jumping one day. The first guy says to the second, "You know, we could make a lot of money running our own bungee jumping service in Mexico."

The second guy thinks this is a great idea, so the two of them pool their money and buy everything they'll need - a tower, an elastic cord, insurance, etc.

They travel to Mexico and begin to set up on the square. As they are constructing the tower, a crowd begins to assemble. Slowly, more and more people gather to watch them at work.

The first guy jumps to test the equipment. He bounces at the end of the cord, but when he comes back up, the second guy notices that he has a few cuts and scratches. Unfortunately, the second guy isn't able catch him, he falls again, bounces and comes back up again.

This time, he is bruised and bleeding. Again, the second guy misses him. The first guy falls again and bounces back up. This time, he comes back and he's got a couple of broken bones and is almost unconscious.

Luckily, the second guy finally catches him this time and says, "What happened? Was the cord too long?"

The first guy says, "No, the cord was fine. Hey, what the heck is a 'pinata'?"

Thought of the Day

"Never give up efforts. Even if you fail, the benefit you derive is experience."

Our hard work is never lost. No matter what happens, I always grow and gain something from the efforts I make. There is much to learn through mistakes and failures so keep on trying and stay at it!

"Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile."

Joke of the Day

Here's a little something to make your Monday slightly happier... and a nice picture with a quote to inspire us... "Effort and courage are not enough without purpose and direction"

Three sons left home, went out on their own and prospered. Getting back together, they discussed the gifts they were able to give their elderly Mother.
The first said, "I built a big house for our Mother."

The second said, "I sent her a Mercedes with a driver."

The third smiled and said, "I've got you both beat. You remember how Mom enjoyed reading the Bible? And you know she can't see very well any more. I sent her a remarkable parrot that recites the entire Bible. It took Elders in the church 12 years to teach him. He's one of a kind. Mama just has to name the chapter and verse, and the parrot recites it."
Soon thereafter, Mom sent out her letters of thanks: "Milton," she wrote one son, "the house you built is so huge. I live in only one room, but I have to clean the whole house."
"Gerald," she wrote to another, "I am too old to travel any more. My eyesight isn't what it used to be. I stay most of the time at home, so I rarely use the Mercedes. And the driver is so rude!"
"Dearest Donald," she wrote to her third son, "you have the good sense to know what your Mother likes. The chicken was delicious!"

In the News...

The world is buzzing with action right now and we could be at a crucial juncture in history so let's try to be informed and know what is going on... The pictures are unrelated but just cool pictures I found. The first is just some picture some guy took from an airplane but the rainbow looks gorgeous. The second is to get the mood set for Super Bowl Sunday! This is a picture of the place where they are making the footballs for the big game!

Economic crisis??? Try economic history! I know economics isn't a fun read but this article is something people might be studying about 20-30 years from now. The tides are turning and old rules of economics aren't quite working the way Keynes asserted. Globalization has reshaped our world and America is at the receiving end of this blow... I am sure everyone has heard for our economy's downward spiral. Subprime mortgage rates, stock market crash, unemployment, recession--if you've been looking at headlines, you've seen it all. If you haven't here's a brief glimpse at what is going on. This article also covers a historic event (biggest interest rate cut in years) so if nothing at least you can say you knew about it...

But while we cry about our economic struggles, it's good to keep it in perspective. 40,000 people die EACH MONTH in Congo!!! This is a human tragedy but most of us haven't heard of what's going on. I had an article about Kenya's political conflict that is going on there but this is just tragic. How come no one goes there to help? Why is it Iraq that is in need of so much humanitarian help and not these poor people who have nothing? There is no violence here, no terrorism, just death...

Girls are smarter than boys??? Perhaps they are... a new study suggest that both are about equally smart. But men overstate their intelligence, whereas women act dumber than they are. Not sure why girls would do that but in brief: act smarter girls!

Here's a nice note to end on... for all the cry about global warming and pollution, this article tells the story of an oil giant thinking green! With all the money they have made off of oil, not only is the UAE (Dubai is a part of the UAE) the wealthiest nation in the world (per capita that is), but it is also a world leader in helping the environment! The future green city that they have planned sounds pretty crazy!!!

Thought of the Day

So I know its not fair me to call it Thought of the Day when it is not daily but hopefully I will get better about this!

"It is better to wear out than to rust out." -- Bishop Richard Cumberland ... Regardless of what we do, life is going to pass by. Either we will grow old having not accomplished anything or we can grow old with some greater experience and greater wisdom. When you wear out, there is a feeling of satisfactiona and achievement for having done something. There is no such beauty in rust. So don't just pass time! Let's make the most of the time we have and wear ourselves out for the betterment of our culture and our society...

It would probably be nice to know who the man was so here is a tad bit about him: He was an English philosopher of the late 1600s. His major work De legibus naturae (on Natural Laws) propounded utilitarianism and went against the work of Hobbes. The basis of his ethical theory is benevolence -- "No action can be morally good which does not in its own nature contribute somewhat to the happiness of man." (Just for reference, Hobbes believed that man as a moral being intriniscally will do what is in his own self-interest.)

Joke of the Day

Tim is shopping to find a Barbie for his daughter when he notices he knows nothing about Barbie and there aren't even prices on them. So, Tim brings three Barbie dolls to the checkout.
"Hi, how may I help you," says the checkout guy.
Tim replies, "I have three Barbies and I need to know what they are and how much they cost?"
The man at the register says, "Well, the first one is Princess Barbie and she is $20 dollars. The second one is Forever Barbie and she is $25 dollars. The third is Divorce Barbie and she is $250."
"What!!" Tim shouts. "Are you kidding me?!! Why is Divorce Barbie so much?"
The man explains, "Well, Divorce Barbie comes with Ken's house, Ken's car, and everything else Ken owns!!"

Keeping Up With My World...

Its been a while since we've gone around the world to see what is going on but as usual it's our responsibility as citizens to know what our brothers and sisters are doing across the world...

The true power of women... This article is unbelievable in so many ways. For one, it shows how important women are for a society to develop and progress. In Afghanistan, if these young girls are able to get educated and become leaders in society, they themselves could bring about the changes that a devastated country needs. Reading this also makes you realize how fortunate we are. We take our education for granted but consider the power of education. Really makes you grateful for what we have. And then of course its about Afghanistan, a country that has been destroyed and is trying to recover. The ways of these radical fundamentalists is frightening and it is hard to fathom how these Taliban conceive society should be. But yes an excellent read...

Kenya has been on the headlines for a while now... I am still not too educated about the issue but from what I do know, basically there were elections held some time back and the opposition leader seemed to have won. However, the ruling party manipulated the election (or has been accused of doing so) and there has been chaos and warfare since then. I found this particular article interesting because it is about leadership... here you have a man who wants people to protest for him, but how much courage does he have? Is he willing to risk his life? True revolutionaries have to be willing to do a bit more than what Odinga is doing here...

Taco Bell everywhere?!?! Remember the last time you went to India and thought to yourself, "The only thing missing here is Taco Bell." Well that may not be last much longer! This is an interesting article about globalization and how Yum Brands is trying to take its fast food to the world despite different tastes and preferences. Kinda cool how they're adjusting and spreading. Did you know that Taco Bell isn't even Mexican food???

About my culture... Makar Sankranti or Uttarayana

Makar Sankranti

In the month of Magha, the transition of the Sun from Dhanu Rasi to Makara Rasi marks the starting of Uttarayana, which means the northern movement of Sun. The days get longer which signifies hope and optimism.

Makar Sankranti is a time for friendship and unity which means:
Samyak Kranti - balanced revolution. Violence is replaced with understanding, love, and change in thoughts.
Sang Kranti - good company (with those who are trying to go closer to divinty), and to remove demonic qualities from self and society. This is freedom from attachments, passions, greed, egoism, allurement, anger, jealousy, envy…
Sangh Kranti - unity; everyone offers their efficiency. Use of the best of everyone and everything. Build strength through unity. Unity based on the common understanding that, “We are divine brothers under the fatherhood of God.” The people should be joined with God in the center.

“United we stand, divided we fall”

Makar Sankranti marks the victory of light over darkness. “Tamaso Ma Jyotir Gamaya…” (Oh Lord! Lead me from darkness to light.) Light increases from this day onward as the sun moves toward the northern hemisphere.

Celebration:
Makar Sankranti is celebrated all over India, and different states call it different names.
In Sanskrit, “uttar” means north and “ayan” means movement towards. During this celebration, everyone climbs on the roofs of their homes and joyfully fly vibrant colored kites together.

Maharashtra- Makar Sankrant
Punjab- Lohri
Uttarakhand- Uttarayani
Bengal and Assam- Bhogali Bihu
Gujarat and Rajasthan- Uttarayan
Kerala and Tamilnadu- Pongal
Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka- Sankranthi

Tal laadu (sesame balls) - people should develop sweetness in their hearts. Each ingredient of the tal-laadu is symbolic. The tal (sesame) brings smoothness in our lives. The whiteness of the tal indicates purity. Jaggery (pure sugar cane-gur) is an indication of sweetness. Ghee (purified butter) is used to mix the three things and indicates strength of body and mind. By giving these ladoos to other we wish for these things in their lives. In Maharashtra, we say “Til gul ghya, good good bola.” This means let’s forgive and forget what has happened in the past. It is a day for making up with enemies and making good friendships. Ladu in the olden days used to have a coin in the center. This symbolizes that charity should be given silently/hidden. Also, tal serves as a binding or unifying force.

On this day, everyone flies kites. As long as you have God holding the string of the kite, you remain steady and in control. But once you turn away from that which holds you then you go “out of control”. Furthermore, the individual flying the kite is always looking upwards; therefore, one should constantly be looking upward in life-trying to achieve higher goals.

“May there be greater love and light in the world!”

Keeping up with the times...

These are some really really exciting and relevant reads from various different areas of interest so hopefully you find something of interest!

Is time travel possible??? Well I don't know about physically traveling through time but you better believe it that the mind sure can...Research has shown that a part of your brain is actually involved in time traveling. So when you are sitting there thinking about the past or if you're day dreaming about how things might be tomorrow or in the future, your mind is actually doing a little time traveling of its own! Pretty crazy to think about the power of the mind and its imagination along with everything else it does!

Is it possible to survive a 500-foot drop??? Regular logic or rationale says no. Science says its possible. Reality is that it happened!!! Pretty crazy story about how this guy may have managed to survive...It's pure physics so beware for words like "terminal velocity", "momentum", "force" and "impulse"...

To kill or not to kill? What do you do when a mother is killing her children? Do you kill the mother and stop her? Or is that a natural response that you should allow? An interesting situation has arose in Germany where a polar bear is killing her cubs instead of raising them. Not sure what to do? The people at the zoo most definitely aren't...

AND a local favorite topic...TRAFFIC! For anyone who lives in LA, visits LA, or has just driven in LA, you know about traffic. We talk about it all the time. This article suggest that the talking is the problem indeed. Its everyone who is on the phone who is adding to the traffic... this study shows you drive slower when you're on the phone! Perhaps its time to talk less and drive more!

Thought of the Day

"Three sentences for getting Success:
a) Know more than the other.
b) Work more than the other.
c) Expect less than the other."

--- William Shakespeare

The formula for success is simple: work hard and leave the rest to God! In life, there is a certain order to the world that always makes sure you succeed if your effort is there so do not worry to much about what happens. Focus on the process and the effort and if I have done my best and I expect nothing in return, I will be just okay!

Joke of the Day

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson go on a camping trip, set up their tent, and fall asleep. Some hours later, Holmes wakes his faithful friend.

'Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see.'

Watson replies, 'I see millions of stars.'

'What does that tell you?'

good jokeWatson ponders for a minute.' Astronomically speaking, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, it tells me that Saturn is in Leo. Time wise, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three. Theologically, it's evident the Lord is all-powerful and we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you?

Holmes is silent for a moment, then speaks. 'Watson, you idiot, someone has stolen our tent.'

Joke of the Day

The Driver after getting all of Pope John Paul's luggage loaded into the limo (and he doesn't travel light), noticed that the Pope was still standing on the curb.
"Excuse me, Your Eminence," said the driver, "Would you please take your seat so we can leave?"
"Well, to tell you the truth," said the Pope, "they never let me drive at the Vatican, and I'd really like to drive today."
"I'm sorry but I cannot let you do that. I'd lose my job! And what if something should happen?" protested the driver, wishing he'd never gone to work that morning.
"There might be something extra in it for you," said the Pope.
Reluctantly, the driver got in the back as the Pope climbed in behind the wheel. The driver quickly regretted his decision when, after exiting the airport, the Supreme Pontiff floored it, accelerating the limo to 105 mph.
"Please slow down, Your Holiness!!!" pleaded the worried driver, but The Pope kept the pedal to the metal until they heard sirens.
"Oh, my God! I'm gonna lose my license," moaned the driver.
The Pope pulled over and rolled down the window as the cop approached. The cop took one look at him, went back to his motorcycle and got on the radio.
"I need to talk to the Chief," he said to the dispatcher.
The Chief got on the radio and the cop told him that he stopped a limo going a hundred and five.
"So bust him," said the Chief.
"I don't think we want to do that, he's really important," said the cop.
The Chief exclaimed, "All The more reason!"
"No, I mean really important," said the cop.
The Chief then asked, "Who ya got there, the Mayor?"
Cop: "Bigger."
Chief: "Governor?"
Cop: "Bigger." “
Well," said the Chief, "Who is it?"
Cop: "I think it's God!"
Chief: "What makes you think it's God?"
Cop: He's got the Pope for a limo driver!"

Fun News to Read

Sorry for having taken so long to get around to this! But with the New Year here and now that I am back to school, its all back on track..... here are some fun stories that I found that are interesting and fun to read...

Indian Power!!! Two exciting reads about India as we begin the new year to see just how far our country has come. We've heard all the stories about India's glorious past and its great history but its there once again for us to see and understand here and now. First in education.... we've all heard about IIT and we see Indians all around us leading the way in so many different fields. But the success of Indian education is now being realized for little kids too! And not in America, but in Japan! For those of you who know about Japan, they have a huge pride thing and never can admit that another Asian country is better than them yet here they are talking about Indian education.... Then in cars... Tata is now making the world's cheapest car ever! There isn't much info out about this top secret project but what an amazing idea! Really good mileage, really affordable, and small for city driving... can't beat that!

This is unrelated to India but on the subject of cars...automatic cars! It's no longer a science fiction story but more like a reality....

Prescribing Placebos??? Apparently a survey showed that many doctors are prescribing placebos...empty pills! And they're working in many cases. But some patients are angry. Should they be? Or can doctors be allowed to do this? The whole psychological aspect of medicine is very interesting....

The Green Electronics Show.... electronics and environment seem to almost be at conflict but the CES (something worth reading about in itself if you're into high tech stuff) has become carbon-neutral this year. I didn't really know what carbon-neutral was until I read this but I thought it was kind of nice. Oprah had a show recently about helping the environment too...maybe its time we all start doing something for our Earth.

Healthy Snack Idea

Recently, my mom started mixing dried fruits and nuts and making snacks for us at home claiming that this was healthier. Basically she took raisins, cranberries, cherries and any other dried fruits we had and mixed it with almonds and walnuts. It tasted pretty good but I was wondering about how healthy it actually was. I am not sure how many of you know this but I was surprised to learn about the health benefits of almonds and walnuts.... might be a new snack to test out!

Almonds:
Nutritional Value of Almonds: Almond is incredibly rich in minerals like Mangnese, Magnesium, Copper, Phosphorus, Iron, Zinc and Potassium. However, Selenium is also present in good amount.

Vitamin Content of an Almond: These small nuts are a powerhouse of Vitamin E, Riboflavin, Thiamin, Niacin and Folate. Good amounts of Vitamin B6 and Pantothenic Acid are also present.

Calorie Content of an Almond: Almonds have a large calorie content, being 575.0 per 100 gm.

Health Benefits of an Almond: The small sized Almond comes packed with sizeable amount of health benefits. It lowers the risk of gallstones, weight gain (instead makes you lose weight), high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. It reduces blood sugar level, weight and LDL (bad)cholestrol, including almonds in your diet keeps heart and blood healthy.

Walnuts :
Nutritional Value of Walnut: Walnut is oil-rich food, which is a great source of all important omega-3 fatty acids.

Nutrition Facts and Information about Walnut: Walnut is an excellent source of manganese and copper. They also contain very good levels of magnesium and phosphorous. Good levels of zinc, iron, calcium and selenium can also be found in walnut. They also contain traces of iodine. Walnuts are low in sodium.

Health Benefits of Walnut: Regular consumption of walnuts helps in lowering cholesterol levels, controlling high blood sugars, and improving cardiovascular functions. It is good for various hearth problems. The reason for these benefits of walnuts is that they contain unsaturated fats and little cholesterol, significant amount of omega-3 and antioxidant properties. Walnuts can help prevent gallstones.

Thoughts of the Day

William Hazlitt - "The art of life is to know how to enjoy a little and to endure very much."

As easy as it is to enjoy the joyous moments of life, more often then not, life is a struggle. It is in those times that we must learn to remain happy. That is what I think it means to endure. If we know how to endure we can learn to enjoy every moment of life no matter how difficult it may be.

Marie Curie - "Be less curious about people and more curious about ideas."

In today's era of Facebook, MySpace, etc., much of our precious lives are spent wondering about others and what they are doing. Even amongst best friends, we spend much of our time discussing the lives of others and being critical about other people. But what if such time was spent thinking about new ideas? Would we not be able to create an amazing world? In the new year, let's challenge ourselves to get more out of our relationships. I shouldn't sell myself short. God has given me something very powerful called curiosity but how I use it will determine what I get out of it! Let me use it to learn more about my world, and spend less time talking about others.
